Olivia Colbert on the Renaissance Spirit in Florence

“Florence’s contemporary artists carry forward a tradition of excellence,” reflects Olivia Colbert, an art historian, scientific scholar and co-founder of Pneuma Art Foundation. “The skill on display in this inaugural exhibit is remarkable. It’s not just about art as an outcome in this particular show, but about art as a practice that demands technical mastery and a deep understanding of material and techniques. Florence has always been a city of artisans, and we see that dedication alive today. These artists honor the city’s heritage by approaching each piece as a study in craftsmanship and skill. Looking into the future, we want to give these artists a platform to transition their early career with support of patrons, collaborative commissions, open exhibits, and workshops all in the inspiration of the Renaissance spirit.”
