Marziali

My name is Leonardo Marziali, I'm from Ancona, Italy.

My artistic gymnasium begins as a child, enjoying the works of Michel Ochelot, French director and animator, which catapult me into a dimension where creativity is a medium to live for.

In middle school I went through "Kubrickian" influences through a dvd box set from my father that changed the way I see things. I understand that audiovisuals are capable of opening the doors of knowledge and evolving thoughts.

In 2013 Paolo Sorrentino won an Oscar with his film "La Grande Bellezza," and I realized I wanted to be a filmmaker, beginning to break down everyday life into frames.

Nourished by these energies, I finish accounting school and make a 10-minute short film to enter one of Italy's best filmmaking academies. I win and set sail for Rome, the city of cinema.

I begin a 3-year journey where I try to educate myself on the means, methodology and language of audiovisuals, through the notions of important professionals in the field, to learn how to master this art and put it to use for my ideas, with the goal of communicating.

I direct several short films including one for the Ministry of Cultural Heritage on the Ecstasy of Maestro Gian Lorenzo Bernini; one for the Italian stand at the Dubai Expo 2020; and one with which I won a narrative competition in Rome.

I also make several commercials, including Alfa Romeo and Estathè.

I am also passionate about color grading, a medium for conveying atmospheres, going so far as to color fashion films, including a Stella McCartney campaign; and video clips, including one by Guè Pequeno, a very important Italian rap artist.

Now I am completing my last year of the academy, developing an ambitious short film entitled "IL MALE," through the help of the Pneuma foundation, with which I then aim to enter the "Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia," one of the most important Italian film editors.

I am passionate about Renaissance and Baroque art, from which I draw inspiration from the concept of aesthetics and beauty as the ceiling system of our existence.

I aspire to the role of filmmaker, in order to share my vision, continuously searching for messages in our existence, studying the past and projecting myself into the future, where my abstractions can become living beings, real films.

As an artist with Pneuma, I want to spend my energies and ambitions to leave something beautiful, growing together, nurtured by the passion that art generates in us.

We can create links between the various disciplines and help each other set the roots of a great tree of knowledge, where culture, beauty and wisdom blossom.

My slogan is: "The important thing is to always be able to marvel at beauty: it nourishes those who seek it. That's why I invest the energies to try to capture it and preserve it in a film, so that it never escapes again."
